What Joe Lynch is fighting for in Piccadilly Ward

Joe Lynch outside in Berlin (Peter Cooke)A GREENER MANCHESTER

Residents of Manchester city centre endure some of the worst air pollution in Europe.
We want to provide more green space, more pedestrianised areas, and to improve
cycling, walking & public transport.

Labour's relationship with property developers is far too cosy, and their failure to
enforce their targets of 20% affordable housing hurts us all. Labour recently
celebrated the success of the Swan House development including a 5% provision. We
say hitting 25% of your target in just one building is not good enough, and we want to
see mixed developments in the city centre by applying the 20% target to each
individual development.

Labour's dominance of the city council is not in the best interests of our city. A healthy
democracy needs a range of moderate voices and a mix of conventional & radical but
not extreme views. We promise to act in the best interests of the residents and
businesses of Piccadilly. We'll support Labour when they get it right, offer constructive
criticism where we see opportunities for improvement, and speak out in opposition
where we think they are wrong with costed alternatives. We can't do this effectively
from the outside though, we need your vote!
